Frequently Asked Questions

Tanning GogglesWhy do I get white spots on my back and shoulder blades?

These are called pressure points and you will get them when you lay on an acrylic to tan. Lack of oxygen to these areas prevents you to tan these areas.

Do I really need to use lotion?

Yes you do. This will replenish the necessary nutrition to the skin cells, promoting cell regeneration and oxygenation, for greatly improved tanning results.

Do I need to wear eye wear?

Yes, you must always wear FDA approved indoor eye wear. You can’t protect your eyes with sunglasses and your eyelids are the thinnest layer of skin and UV light can penetrate them.

Is indoor tanning safe?

Yes! The safe way to tan is in a controlled environment to ensure you don’t burn.

Can I shower after I tan?

Yes! Water won’t “wash away” your tan. Do not shave or exfoliate right after a shower. If you are using a bronzer, it is recommended that you wait 4-5 hours before showering.

Can I tan if I am pregnant?

Please consult your physician. Although we know that there is no danger from UV rays since they can not penetrate deeper than the dermis (skin layer), pregnant women are advised to be cautious with saunas, hot tubs and other things that can cause excessive heat to build up in the uterus.

I heard that if you are taking medication you might have problems. Is this true?

Yes! Some medications can cause reactions with UV light, so please let our staff know if you are taking any medication BEFORE you start tanning.

My face and legs don’t tan very well. What can I do?

Unfortunately our face is exposed to the elements and dries out easily. Our legs are dry because of clothing and shaving. A tanning lotion specific for face or legs will help nourish your skin, enabling you to tan better. Use a moisturizer at least twice a day for your face and body.
